The Pan Pacific Masters Games is a major international sporting event held on the Gold Coast, Queensland at the beginning of November, every two years.
Close to 10,000 participants from all over the world compete in the multi-sport event which runs for one week at various sports venues across the Gold Coast city.
At the last Pan Pacific Masters Games in 2008, 34 sports were on the games program including team events such as softball, touch football, soccer, basketball and baseball and individual sports ranging from swimming and athletics, to tennis and archery.
The Pan Pacific Master Games is a mature-age event, where no qualifying standards or times are required to enter. The only criterion that entrants must meet is the minimum age requirement for their particular sports, which for the majority is 30 years of age.
Participants compete in their age group to ensure that the sport is played fairly, competitively and in marvellous spirit. The Pan Pacific Masters Games slogan is ‘Play it, Live it, Love it!’ which highlights its competitive, participatory and social environment.
The Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre was the official Games Village for the 2008 Pan Pacific Masters Games. It featured live nightly entertainment, a sport’s expo, fully catered hospitality and a venue for the Games participants to socialise, meet up and enjoy the company the event is renowned for.
With the growing number of national teams on the Gold Coast, Queensland Events expects the profile of the Pan Pacific Masters Games to grow even further in 2010.
