With the Quiksilver Pro being the first surfing World Tour event of the season, the Quiksilver Pro attracts the worlds finest surfers to Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta, on the Gold Coast.
The competitions are held wherever the best waves are located on the day, and takes in an area from South Strabroke Island to Ballina, with the home of the tour located at Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta. The renowned new wave breaks all the way to Kirra, providing the longest rideable waves around.
For the first time this year, the best local surfer will get the chance to take on the world's elite, with the winner of the Snapper Rocks Surfriders inter-club competition gaining wildcard entry into the trials of the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Surfing is a great spectator sport because there are great vantage points from the beach and headlands at all venues, with last year's competition attracting more than 8000 fans, one of the biggest crowds ever experienced at a surfing content on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
The Gold Coast nightlife also makes the Quiksilver Pro a favourite with visiting surfers, with a bounty of post-surf party venues to be found, from the Conrad Jupiters casino to the renowned nightclub strip in Surfers Paradise.
